Cottage in Mid Wales, Abergavenny

Gwent. Sleeps up to 2

Located in the heart of the pretty village of Grosmont you will find the newly and lovingly restored Baker s House. The village is served with a great pub The Angel that offers a varied menu of fresh local produce, a post office with all the essentials and historic landmarks of Grosmont Castle and St Nicholas church right on your doorstep. The Bridge at Kentchurch is another good pub which also serves meals and is within walking distance with a country riverside setting. Grosmont is a fantastic base for exploring the nearby market towns of Abergavenny (11 miles), Monmouth (12 miles), Hay (21.5 miles) and Hereford (18miles), as well as having the Wye Valley in one direction and the Brecon Beacons National Park in the other. Cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the variety of activities this location offers, in view of the Black Mountains, with spectacular routes including the Offa s Dyke footpath which you can join at Pandy (7 miles) and which will guide you up onto the Hatterrall Ridge (9.5 miles). This area of the Welsh border is peppered with Norman Castles, in particular the famous Three Castle walking trail, a 19 mile circular route taking in Grosmont, along with Skenfrith and White Castles, an absolute must see. Steeped in history and once the home of the village baker, the property is well positioned within the heart of the village. The cottage is adjoining the owner s home, the main private entrance is tucked away from the street to the side. Step inside to the kitchen where you can take a pew and remove your boots after a day exploring. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/ freezer and dishwasher. A step down leads to a well stocked log basket for the stove and access to the lounge. This is a beautiful room that enjoys plenty of natural light and views into the village and here you can relax in front of the wood burner and enjoy a good film on the TV. There is a table for two for your supper, when not enjoying a meal at the local pub that is. When the day is done, climb the steep cottage stairs where you will find the incredibly romantic king size bedroom with stripped wooden floors, enjoying a front aspect with rooftop views across to the Skirrid mountain. There is an en suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Outside to the front of the property you can sit and enjoy a morning coffee and watch the world go by.
