Holly Lodge, is a contemporary and beautifully built oak framed romantic holiday cottage, all on one floor situated in 15 acres of glorious and well kept grounds of the owners home. The views are glorious.
A great place to stay amidst truly stunning gardens and with The River Usk with the Usk Valley Walk passing within a few minutes walk from the cottage.
The Black Bear is within walking distance of the cottage in Bettws Newydd with an excellent reputation for good food - well worth a visit but you may need to book.
Holly Lodge is in the Usk Valley, within easy reach of Usk, Monmouth and Abergavenny. This area is particularly well known for its wonderful selection of pubs and restaurants with The Hardwick, The Walnut Tree, The Bell at Skenfrith, Restaurant 1861 at Cross Ash, The Court at Llansantffraed Court again only a few minutes drive along the lane is The Raglan Arms. .
Guests will love the combination of the elegance of this peaceful garden retreat and the convenience of the location and are welcome to bring one small well behaved pet. When guests arrive they are given a welcome bottle of wine, milk, eggs (when the hens are laying) and some welsh cakes.

Holly Lodge is well furnished with the spacious open plan living and kitchen area has double patio doors overlooking National Trust land and the Clytha Estate.
The kitchen is well very equipped with an electric oven and hob, and a washer dryer.
The spacious living area has a dining table, comfortable sofas, a TV with Freesat and DVD - excellent WIFI and a lovely wood burning stove. The room features an exposed frame of enormous oak beams and a lovely flagstone floor. There is under floor heating ensuring the cottage is always warm and comfy.

The owner is a keen gardener and the grounds are beautifully kept. There are the most fantastic oak and horse chestnut trees, sweeping lawns and mature beds. Indeed, the 1980's television programme 'A Hundred Acres' was filmed here and the owner has the accompanying children's book and video for those that fancy a trip down memory lane.
The River Usk runs through the gardens with the Usk Valley Walk alongside, making Holly Lodge the ideal base for exploring the area on foot.

We enjoyed walks along the river in both directions (one of which included Sunday lunch in a pub) and thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxed weekend."
Plenty to see and do... There are many activities available in the area including pony trekking, canoeing, fishing, paragliding and numerous golf courses, including the Celtic Manor - the venue of the 2010 Ryder Cup. There are also numerous castles with Raglan, Usk, Abergavenny, Caldicott, Skenfrith and Grosmont all within a 20 minute drive. The world heritage site at Blaenavon includes the fascinating tour of Big Pit mines and Newport wetlands, Chepstow racecourse and Tintern Abbey all provide an excellent day out. If you want to drive a little further then Cardiff and Bristol are both within an hour's drive.
A foodie's dream...Holly Lodge is also close to some wonderful restaurants such as Stephen Terry's Hardwick just make sure to call and reserve a table first! The village local, the Black Bear in Bettws Newydd also provides a warm welcome and excellent food and is a ten minute stroll up a country lane.
