Stunning views

The village of Bwlch sits on a col between two hills. The name Bwlch actually means 'pass' as a road connecting Crickhowell with Brecon has existed here since Roman times. The village is situated at around 200m above sea level and as such commands incredible, panoramic views of the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons. The route through Bwlch is among the most picturesque in the area. Winnie's Hayloft has large sky-lights in the sitting room to take full advantage of this wonderful position.

Llangorse Lake - The outdoor enthusiasts dream

Llangorse Lake is the largest natural lake in South Wales and has become a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Head down to the water and hire a rowboat to enjoy a peaceful cruise whilst surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons. Try your hand at water skiing or sailing - pedaloes and canoes are also available to hire. Those interested in fishing need look no further; Llangorse is renowned for its Pike fishing. If you are not a water baby, the site also boasts Wales' leading indoor climbing centre, the unique Sky Trek - a series of connected zip lines that take you through trees, down the mountainside, and numerous pony trekking and riding centres.

Fantastic walks from the door

Leave your Hayloft behind for the day and pick up a picnic from the post office in the village before heading out on one of many circular walks from Bwlch. Explore the perimeter of Llangorse Lake or visit Llangasty Church where the Sunday School movement was founded.

Another circular walk will take you travelling through time between the villages of Bwlch, Cwmdu and Tretower. Explore the impressive stone tower and Tretower Castle and the late medieval house of Tretower Court.

"We had a wonderful week in Wales despite the weather! Bridget & Nigel, the owners made us very welcome from the start. They were there to greet us and provided a welcome pack, topped off with some homemade jam, who could wish for more.
The cottage was great, it was clean and very well equipped and was like a home from home. Thank you Brecon Beacons Holiday Cottages for making it a perfect week!" Sam
