A very pretty detached bungalow very peaceful with lovely views, decorated with thought and care (as noted by the guests) is set in a dreamy private garden with climbing roses and ample parking, there is garden furniture and a barbecue, with space for French cricket or to kick about with a ball. The bungalow is detached all on one level, not over looked and easily accessible. The kitchen, living room and a bedroom is can be used with a wheelchair but not the bathroom or w.c. Guests enjoy the romantic sunsets from the comfortable sitting room with a flat screen TV & DVD. Books and games are provided for your entertainment. There is free WIFI. and a good mobile telephone connection. The pretty farmhouse kitchen has a dining table and chairs, fridge freezer, gas cooker, microwave, stainless steel pans, blue and white china, everything to share a special meal time.
There are 3 bedrooms each comfortably furnished with a dressing table, bedside lights and tables, a wardrobe and chair. The beds are comfortable with sprung mattresses sprung bases and head boards with two pillows per person & are prepared for your arrival with fresh & clean linen and towels, there is a choice of duvets or blankets. There is a double bedroom, and 1 twin bedroom and 1 single. The bathroom has a wash basin, bath with a mira shower over the bath, heated towel rail and shaving plug. There is a separated w.c. The rooms are fully carpeted except the kitchen and w.c which have washable floors.
Guests have exclusive access to walks across the farm on way marked paths, see wild ducks, and geese, also a variety of wild birds, including owls, robins, hedge sparrows, wood peckers, pheasants, sheep and ponies. The coast to coast path runs through the farm. Guests find Stanhow is perfectly placed for exploring the Dales, James Herriot Country, as well as the Yorkshire Moors and coast of Whitby and Runswick Bay. Those who enjoy visiting historic places find that Richmond, with its famous Georgian Theatre is a must also the castle and cobbled market square. Visits the delights of the Cathedral Cities of York, Durham and Ripon with wonderful visitors attractions and superb boutiques and street markets. Guests also enjoy a drive across the Yorkshire moors to the coast and visiting Castle Howard (Brides Head Film set) and its stunning grounds. Explore the Yorkshire Dales.
Enjoy Historic Country Houses, Kiplin Hall & gardens is a walk away with award winning tea rooms, historic connections to Boston U.S.A. Visit gardens , Heritage and Castle, local villages and market towns of Northallerton, Bedale, Richmond & Thirsk with James Herriots museum.
The area has a reputation for very good local food and award winning hospitality. If you do not wish to drive why not use the York Moors railway or the Dales railway.
Many people marvel at the peace and tranquillity at Stanhow with 230 acres of land. The hedges were planted in 1880 and we have continued to planted more trees.
There are marvellous wild flowers, including grass verges of special interest. Children enjoy discovering the countryside - a list is provided for things to find. they also love meeting the ponies and 'odd job' There is a wide variety of birds small and large! Owls and wood peckers.
It is an artist's paradise. Sunsets and sunrises to enjoy - and stars at night.
Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle has special displays of period china, furniture, art and The Silver Swan. There is also an area of special interest to children. Built by John and Josephine Bowes. Charles Dickens visited Barnard Castle.
Tenants auction house at Leyburn is an ideal place to start your own collection - displays have a good restaurant.
It is a very good area for cycling - Central for Yorkshire horse racing meetings.
There are lots of maps, files of places to visit and green tourism details in the bungalow. Mary is always happy to help and lives 150 yards away. Never-the-less the bungalow is detached within a gated garden and peaceful surrounded by fields. Many of our guest have returned regularly.
A well behaved dog may be welcome if exercised outside the garden and not left alone. Please ask for further help and information there is a charge for the dog, if you have more than one dog please ask, there is an extra charge. This bungalow is equally suitable for couples or families - and works well for some one on business. Please give details of the person on business and what their work is.
We do not allow electricity to charge vehicles, there is charging point at Scotch corner & Tescos in Northallerton.
Care is taken to prepare the bungalow between visits, because of the limited amount of time between change overs we ask guests to leave the bungalow clean and tidy - so we have extra time to cover extra sanitizing . ( we need 24 hours between lets) also the touches that make the stay a special time for everyone. This is Herriot Country, with walks from the door. On the coast to coast walk and Durham to York cycle route.

Located in Northallerton, this vacation home is in a rural area and on a river. Romanby Golf and Country Club and Croft Circuit are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Yorkshire Dales National Park and North York Moors National Park. Paddock Farm Nursery & Water Gardens and Millgate House Garden are also worth visiting. Fishing and swimming offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with cycling and horse riding nearby.
