Boasting beautiful views over a sheltered valley in one of Devon’s most picturesque villages, this spacious holiday cottage, attached to the owner’s home, nestles on the banks of the River Torridge. The Old Dairy is a delightful property ideal for family and friends to escape and unwind at any time of the year. It lies just a short stroll away from the village inn which serves good food. The famous Tarka Trail is close by and offers good walking and cycling, with bike hire available locally. Private, single bank fishing (fly-fishing, 1st March - 30th Sept) is available on a short stretch of the River Torridge, just a few minutes’ walk away. A full salmon and trout licence is required. This part of the river is affected by tides.
Weare Giffard is just a short drive from the pretty port town of Bideford on the River Torridge, with its pastel coloured houses alongside a treelined quay. The wide golden sandy beach of Westward Ho! is popular with surfers and is just 6 miles away. Take a boat trip to the nature reserve at Lundy Island or explore many pretty fishing villages, including nearby Clovelly and Hartland, or try your hand at crabbing at Appledore quay. The Civil War heritage town of Torrington can be reached within 2½ miles, where guests can visit Dartington Crystal and have a go at glass blowing and the world famous RHS gardens at Rosemoor. There area also numerous National Trust properties in the area, including Arlington Court and the Castle Drago, located on the edge of Dartmoor. Spectacular clifftop walks, rockpools, fishing and horse riding are all available locally, and for family fun, visit The Big Sheep and The Milky Way Adventure Park. Private fly fishing is available along a short stretch of the River Torridge just a few minutes’ walk away, by arrangement with the owner. Easy access to the Tarka Trail. Torrington Golf Club is 1 mile away. Beach 6 miles. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
