Puddleduck Cottage, Thornton-Le-Dale

North York Moors. Sleeps up to 5

Puddleduck Cottage is an endearing stone-fronted, detached dwelling, set in the chocolate-box village of Thornton-le-Dale, one mile from the popular market town of Pickering. Originally a barn, the property has been lovingly restored to a high standard and now provides a delightful single-storey holiday home for the most discerning guests, looking to tour North Yorkshre. With bags of character, there are flagged floors throughout and the open-plan living area has high pitched ceilings with the original exposed timbers, a well-equipped galley-style kitchen, and a homely sitting area. The double bedroom leads off the living room, whilst two small steps lead up to the sleek bathroom and the second family bedroom. Comfortably furnished to a high standard, the cottage has a lovely, homely feel and will be a pleasure to come back to after a day of exploring. Outside, there is a private sunny garden to the rear of the property, where one can sit and relax with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down. A short stroll along the side of the beck brings you into the centre of this most picturesque village, with an array of interesting shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. There are numerous walks straight from the door, while nearby bustling Pickering hosts the terminus of the famous North York Moors Steam Railway, which winds its way through heather clad moors to Grosmont and Whitby. Local attractions include Dalby Forest, with its biking and walking tracks, Duncombe Park, Castle Howard and the pretty market town of Helmsley. With the seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough just a short drive and the spectacular scenery of the North York Moors National Park to discover, Puddleduck Cottage provides an excellent base any time of the year.
