This attractive cottage in situated in a pleasant location within easy walking distance of Whitby town centre and even closer to the train station, making it an ideal choice for families or couples wishing to discover historic Whitby and beyond. Set over three floors, this spacious house boasts a double aspect garden room which opens onto a lawned garden – a lovely place to dine al fresco in the warmer months. There is also private parking for one car, a real bonus in Whitby’s bustling centre. From the entrance hall, head into a large, split level area with a warm, welcoming sitting room with gas fired wood burning-style stove, then down to a large, well equipped kitchen with table and chairs. There’s a handy separate utility room nearby. A delightful, double aspect garden room leads off from the kitchen, providing a peaceful spot to enjoy a cuppa whilst reading the morning papers or simply enjoy sunlit views of the garden. The first floor has two bedrooms; a large double which overlooks the garden, plus a pretty single bedroom with en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower over, basin and WC. In the house bathroom, the soothing Jacuzzi bath is heaven after a bracing coastal walk! To the second floor is a twin bedroom. Lawned garden with seating and a BBQ. Close by, Whitby marina is the place to watch fishing and pleasure boats come and go into the harbour, passing under the swing bridge which links the ‘old town’. In August, the Whitby regatta is a superb event showcasing yacht and rowing races, and has expanded over the years to include a large fair, fireworks and Red Arrows display. There are no shortages of fantastic fish restaurants and the waterfront is dotted with lovely bars with outdoor seating. The Captain Cook Memorial Museum provides a fascinating insight into Whitby’s most famous seafaring son. The Yorkshire coastline encompasses some of the UKs most rugged and beautiful countryside. For unspoilt scenery, try the coastal walking paths around the pretty fishing villages of Robin Hood’s Bay or Staithes. Perfectly located for discovering all the heritage coast has to offer, Damson Cottage is a welcoming place to stay at any time of the year.
