This detached cottage is located at the island’s most northerly point and is ideal for exploring the surrounding area which has much to offer, including dramatic landscapes, seascapes, sunsets, dark skies, the Northern Lights and much more. Ness benefits from a wide range of amenities, including miles of beautiful white sand beaches, a leisure centre, two general stores and cafés. Places worth visiting nearby include the Butt of Lewis Lighthouse, Ness Historical Society, Taigh Dhonnchaidh Arts & Music Centre, Loch Stiapabhat with its wildlife observatory and Eoropie Dunes Playpark. There is a pebble beach and harbour at Port Skigersta, which is very picturesque and is good for walking and photography.
Stornoway, the nearest town, offers a variety of shops and restaurants, as well as An Lanntair, a performing arts centre and cultural venue, and Museum nan Eilean at Lews Castle, which boasts fabulous grounds and woodland walks. The area is a birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts paradise, with an abundance of local wildlife to be seen. There are many opportunities to take part in a range of outdoor activities such as loch/sea angling and hill walking, and boat trips from Stornoway, Uig or Great Bernera can be booked to spot whales and dolphins.
