The Uists have so much to offer for the outdoor enthusiast with wonderful walks along the famous white sands or walking in the hills to catch a glimpse of the golden eagle or wild red deer. The island is a mecca for those interested in bird watching as sea eagles, golden eagles, corncrakes, and hen harriers are only a few of the local species. The RSPB reserve at Balranald is only a short drive away from the cottage where you can enjoy looking for the corncrake or walking on the flower carpeted machair. Whales and basking sharks visit in the summer and can be seen regularly offshore around the islands.. Those who love to fish can enjoy sea and loch fishing which is available locally (permit required for lochs).
The sunrise, sunsets, seascape, landscape, and dark skies are sure to amaze you so come, explore and enjoy!
