Situated in the picturesque village of Ullock which is between Cockermouth and Ennerdale, Mirehouse is a great starting point to explore the western Lake District and coast, and there are a couple of pubs and restaurants nearby. Your nearest lake is Loweswater which is just 3 miles away. Loweswater is surrounded by amazing fells, stunning scenery and cycle and walking routes, as well as easy access to arguably some of the most picturesque areas of the Lake District National Park including Crummock and Buttermere. If you want rugged adventure or just a peaceful walk taking in the flora and fauna, you have a beautiful area to explore.

Visit Cockermouth with its abundance of bars, restaurants, coffee houses, independent shops and attractions. For a spot of culture, there is Wordsworth House or maybe Jennings Brewery beneath the castle walls which offers tasting tours. Kirkgate Arts provides a cinema and theatre performances. If you are looking for family fun, a great day out can be had at The Lake District Wildlife Park at Bassenthwaite, 13 miles, with over 100 species of animals, or you could try Go Ape, 10 miles, a tree-top adventure at Whinlatter Forest which is also home to some brilliant cycling trails.
