Situated in the peaceful village of High Newton, this attractive, spacious cottage offers a rural retreat to remember, with great access to the South Lakes and the seaside. This stone-built, end-terraced cottage is situated on a small side road within the village and benefits from parking for two cars directly outside the property. The first thing that hits you when you walk in is the amount of space, unlike many holiday cottages, Glendene is certainly spacious and you are greeted with a really social, open plan kitchen/dining room, perfect for preparing a family feast. Walking through to the living room there is plenty of seating and a large wood burner which is ideal for a cosy night by the fire. The property has been decorated and presented to a good standard and makes use of the original features including large oak beams. The property can comfortably sleep up to six guests and upstairs you’ll find three good-sized bedrooms. The master has a kingsize bed, tasteful furnishings and pleasant views, the second bedroom has a double bed and plenty of storage for your belongings and the third bedroom provides a spacious twin. At the rear, guests will benefit from an enclosed, south-facing garden, complete with lawn, patio and garden furniture. Just the spot for soaking up the sun while you relax and listen to the birds. You can also store your bikes in the garage.

If you like outdoor adventure, climbing, walking and cycling are all available in the amazing, surrounding scenery, as well as routes around the local villages, and not to mention the fantastic Lakeland Fells around Coniston and Windermere which are just a short drive away. Of course you’re only 3 miles from the southern tip of Lake Windermere, where you can join the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and take a pleasure ride on the steam train. You can also take the famous Windermere steamers to Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside. To the south you are just 3½ miles from the seaside town of Grange-over-Sands with excellent shopping, dining and plenty of pubs serving a great range of local and cask ales. It has an excellent golf course too if you fancy a round. The nearby village of Cartmel with its famous priory and racecourse is well worth a visit on race day, so be sure to check the racing schedule before you visit. Cartmel is also home to the famous Cartmel sticky toffee pudding, a local delicacy not to be missed. Hop in the car and you’ve got Ulverston to the west, 12 miles, and Kendal to the east, 12 miles, you’ve got the best of all worlds at Glendene. Beach 3½ miles. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
