The English Riviera is the ultimate seaside destination. Spectacularly beautiful, the beaches here are some of the best in the country. But there’s so much more to the English Riviera than just beaches. There are over 18 major attractions, family friendly days out, great shopping and a lively nightlife. Everything you need is right here on your doorstep in the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay. Living Coasts, Torquay’s award-winning coastal zoo, is home to a magnificent array of marine life from around the world. The true story of Agatha Christie’s life is every bit as intriguing and fascinating as her books, and no where can you get closer to her legacy than on the south Devon coast. Christie was born in Torquay and you can visit ’Greenway’, her family holiday home. She spent many of the most important chapters of her life here, as well as using real places in the area as settings for her murder mysteries.

Paignton prides itself on being a family friendly resort with a wide range of activities for children of all ages, from penny arcades on the pier to the zoo. The central green is home to a multiplex cinema, crazy golf and the pier with rides and amusements. The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway departs from the centre of town. Over at Goodrington Park, there is a boating lake, go-karts and a water park. Dartmoor is on the doorstep, with its ponies, stunning scenery and heather clad rocky tors, and is a walker’s paradise at any time of year. Whilst many people come to Dartmoor to enjoy the beautiful scenery and to recharge their batteries, many come to get active! With over 450 miles of public rights of way, there is an abundance of walking routes to suit all tastes and abilities. Dartmoor also boasts a variety of cycle routes, both on and off road, making it as challenging as you want it. And there is also the small matter of horseriding, climbing, letterboxing, geo-caching or kayaking.

Further afield is Plymouth, 25 miles (to see the Hoe, the Barbican and the National Marine Aquarium). The Eden Project is approximately 1½ hours’ drive and makes a fabulous day out. Crealy Adventure Park is 20 miles. Exeter has a magnificent cathedral and quay, whilst a boat trip can be taken up the river to two stunning pubs. There are many villages to explore and stop off at for a Devon cream tea. Brixham has many shops, pubs and restaurants, or catch the ferry across to Torquay. Beach 500 yards. Shop and restaurant 500 yards, pub 1 mile.
