This is the perfect location for seeing the best of Devon. A short walk is the award-winning Preston Sands, a great, clean sandy beach ideal for sunbathing or going for a swim. Along the back of the beach there is a promenade lined with colourful beach huts. This is an iconic image of the English Riviera, and you can hire one for the day, sit back and watch the world go by. You’ll also find a local bar and grill where you can buy a spot of lunch, and a beach shop stocking all you’ll ever need for a day on the beach. The English Riviera is the ultimate seaside destination but there’s so much more than just beaches. There are over 18 major attractions, family friendly days out, great shopping and a lively nightlife. Everything you need is right on your doorstep.

Visit Living Coasts, Torquay’s award-winning coastal zoo, or ’Greenway’, Agatha Christie’s family holiday home. Dartmoor is on the doorstep with its wild ponies, stunning scenery and heather clad rocky tors, a walker’s paradise at any time of year. Whilst many people go to Dartmoor to enjoy the beautiful scenery and to recharge their batteries, many go to get active so why not visit Becky Falls, 8 miles, an ancient woodland park with rocks and waterfalls? There is also an abundance of walking routes to suit all tastes and abilities, and Dartmoor boasts a variety of cycle routes, both on and off road, making it as challenging as you want it.

For the more adventurous, there is horse-riding, climbing, letterboxing, geo-caching or kayaking. Fishing can also be found nearby. Further afield is Plymouth, 25 miles with its naval connections, The Hoe, The Barbican and the National Marine Aquarium. Exeter has a magnificent cathedral and quay, whilst a boat trip can be taken up the river to two stunning pubs. There are many villages to explore and stop off at for a Devon cream tea. Take a walk along the South West Coast Path which runs along the entire length of the Jurassic Coast and offers the walker stunning views, with a bird’s eye view of many coastal features. All in all, a great year round holiday destination. Beach 100 yards. Shop 50 yards, pub and restaurant 300 yards.
