Newly built self- catering holiday cottage, deep in the woods on the banks of the River Wye at Hay-on-Wye. The Bothy/Y Bwthyn sleeps 6 in a magical woodland setting overlooking the River.

With a light environmental footprint this cosy yet elegant little house will allow you to bathe in the forest yet keep you within easy walking distance of Hay-on-Wye, Clyro Village, The Wye Valley Walk, Offa's Dyke Path, the Black Mountains and all the delights of the Welsh Border country.

The spacious open plan living area has vast picture windows with sliding doors, meaning you can just step out onto a wide veranda looking down through the trees to the River Wye below. There is private fishing, a beach for swimming, a place for tying up your canoe or just sitting and watching the river flow by.

The house is all on one level, partly on stilts to lift you into the trees. There is plenty of wildlife and bird life to observe. Whether you sit patiently on the sofa and gaze out of the huge picture windows or sit in bed at night and watch out for the foxes and badgers in the woodland outside. Or just go out onto the veranda for a spot of soothing 'forest bathing'.

Accommodation

Sleeps 6 - 3 bedrooms

The kitchen area is well equipped with a new gas cooker, fridge and a freezer, there is no dishwasher for environmental concerns and access to washing machine and drying are in a shared wood lodge 50 metres away.

A long dining table and benches and chairs make this a very sociable area to be able to prepare a meal and chat. The veranda is accessible from the kitchen allowing for eating both inside and outside in the trees. There are new comfortable sofas and chairs and a wall mounted TV.

Bedroom 1: A bedroom with a double bed

Bedroom 2: Twin beds but can be made into a king size bed

Bedroom 3: Twin beds

A good shower room with a toilet.

A separate toilet.

Larchwood Bothy is unique, spacious, practical, contemporary with a traditional aesthetic, lovely and warm with a low environmental impact, without detracting from the comfort of visitors.

There is WIFI, a T.V. Underfloor central heating ensuring the house is always warm and cosy whatever the weather outside and there is plentiful hot water.

Cooking is on a sizeable gas 'range cooker". The Bothy has simply all you need; warmth, space, natural light and beautiful landscape.

Ideal for those who want to re-connect with the natural world and appreciate all that the great outdoors offers.

Canoeing, Fishing, walking, birdwatching, art courses, bush craft and countryside crafts all available on site or nearby.

Trout & Salmon Fishing (in season) can be included as part of your booking in some circumstances. Please discuss this further with the owner.

Dogs or other pets are welcome BUT due to the environmentally sensitive nature of the woodland site dogs must be kept on a lead or tether whilst at the Bothy. Dogs must not be allowed to roam freely in the woodland but there are areas where dogs can be walked and exercised off the lead very close by.

The Bothy is suitable for families. Guests are asked to respect and follow conservation guidelines for the surrounding area for their safety and the wellbeing of the immediate environment. Conservation guidelines will be available in The Bothy or by request from the booking agents or the owner. Parents need to be aware that the River Wye is fairly close by and be responsible for supervising children carefully. The river is a natural feature and water levels can rise quickly at any time of year.

The Bothy is situated adjacent to the Wye Valley Walk, Offa's Dyke Path and easy access to the hills with The Black Mountains, The Brecon Beacons and The Radnorshire Hills all within a fifteen minute drive. Explore the rural Herefordshire countryside, Mid-Wales, The Welsh Valleys and further afield.

Hay-on-Wye - 3/4 mile, Brecon - 15 miles, Abergavenny -26 miles, Hereford - 22 miles - the nearest station
