West Croft, Mawbray

Cumbria. Sleeps up to 6

West Croft is a lovely, spacious bungalow with amazing views of the Cumbrian fells. Set in the attractive coastal village of Mawbray which sits in the middle of the Solway Coast, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this is an excellent base for exploring this relatively undiscovered part of Cumbria with its fine coastline and spectacular sunsets. The kitchen is ideal for preparing tasty meals which can then be enjoyed in the dining area whilst you discuss what adventures are still to come on your holiday. Tinkle the ivories on the piano in the sitting room, or relax in front of the feature gas fire before heading to one of the three double bedrooms on offer, all of which offer comfortable accommodation ensuring a good night's sleep before your next fun-filled day. There are some intriguing Victorian seaside resorts to explore at Seascale, Silloth, St Bees and Allonby and the wonderful Cumbrian Coastal Way with stretches of cycle path, is just waiting to be discovered taking in estuaries, beaches, river and canals. The bungalow is also situated on national cycle route 72 or Hadrian's Cycleway which is great for cycling enthusiasts. The village of Allonby also offers a heated indoor swimming pool at the local leisure centre. Maryport was the site of a Roman port and many of the Roman remains are housed in the Senhouse Roman Museum. The Maritime Museum provides a fascinating insight into the town's history. Discover the Lake District Coast Aquarium in the heart of Maryport's refurbished harbour where you can see a fascinating underwater world. Cockermouth is within a short drive from West Croft and is the western gate to the National Park. A highly recommended and very scenic drive passes the lovely Loweswater, Crummock Water and Buttermere over Honister Pass and Borrowdale to Keswick. This is a lovely cottage, in a fascinating area, ideal for your well deserved break.
