Lawned garden with sitting-out area, garden furniture and bike store. Swimming pool (shared with owner, open April-September). Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars; additional on road parking. Owls Retreat is located just outside the picturesque village of Galmpton on a quiet lane leading down to the River Dart and it is just a short drive away from the beautiful beaches of Torbay. You will find everything you need here for an enjoyable Devon holiday and just five minutes’ walk away is the village store crammed with everyday essentials, a fabulous local butcher and a great pub, which serves good food and is dog friendly.

Inside guests can find a sunny and inviting two-bedroom holiday haven to call their own. The snug area offers home-from-home comfort, with a couple of three-seater sofas, a 40” Freeview TV, DVD player and a collection of over 100 DVDs from which to choose. The fully fitted kitchen provides the freedom to enjoy simple home cooked meals during your stay. The family bathroom has a shower over the bath, a shower cubicle, WC and wash basin, and there is an additional toilet on the ground floor.
Guests will have use of the outdoor swimming pool which is not heated (but it does have a solar cover which provides warmth during the summer if the weather is fair) and is in use from 1 April to 30 September. The beautiful garden has a patio area around the pool with a table and chairs, plus additional bench seating; the perfect spot for reading a good book or enjoying your morning cup of coffee.
The proximity to Agatha Christie’s Greenway is very popular, as are the Round Robin steam train/bus/boat trip to Greenway and the River Dart. The river is a two-minute walk away at Galmpton Creek, leading to National Trust land at Agatha Christie’s home of Greenway and the South West Coast Path. The beach at Broadsands is a 15-minute walk away and the bus stop is just a 10-minute walk away where public transport links are excellent. The nearby town of Brixham is a hidden gem. Situated at the southern end of Torbay, it has a quintessential harbour with colourful, hillside fishermen’s cottages overlooking the water and fishing boats coming in to land their catch. In the harbour you will find the Golden Hind, a replica of Sir Francis Drake’s galleon, now a museum, which sits alongside all the working trawlers that form one of the largest fishing fleets in the country. Beach 1¾ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
