The Vale, Ashwater

Devon. Sleeps up to 8

This spacious, detached farmhouse rests on a working farm in the charming village of Ashwater. Surrounded by glorious Devonshire countryside boasting picturesque meadows and grazing sheep, whilst also being close to a stream, which you can enjoy walking along; The Vale is a truly rural escape for families and friends looking for some time away from everyday life. Off-road parking spaces will greet you upon arrival, alongside trickling sounds of the nearby stream, before stepping into the conservatory, hanging your jackets on the rack and marvelling at the original farmhouse doorbell that actually rings! Spend your down time in the lounge, snuggling upon the leather chesterfield sofa before the electric wood effect fire, while a Smart TV with Sky offers a range of entertainment. Carry the conversation into the spacious dining room, where you can prepare the table with crockery and cutlery while the chef of the group gets to work in the amply-equipped kitchen. Both the dining room and the sitting room enjoy the sumptuous touch of chandeliers, adding to the bright and convivial feel of the spaces. There’s also a handy utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, ideal for when your adventures take off on a muddier route! Upstairs plays host to a bathroom and shower room, plus three charming bedrooms, including two doubles and a twin with Sky TV, while those guests with limited mobility will appreciate the ground-floor king-size bedroom and shower room. Make the most of the spacious garden and enjoy a refreshing beverage whilst your pooch roams the fully enclosed outside space, marvelling at the rolling countryside vistas which will surely put you at ease. Ashwater is a charming village and home to a welcoming pub, The Village Inn, where you can browse a varied menu of traditional British grub and a selection of ales, while there is also a handy shop for picking up any essentials. Why not venture to the stunning waters of Roadford Lake, where an activity centre offers plenty of canoeing to partake in? Within a short drive is the popular seaside resort of Bude, boasting a laid-back allure and so much to see and do, including the fabulous Summerleaze Beach where a variety of watersports can be enjoyed. While you're in the area, take a drive towards the small market town of Holsworthy, where you will discover many tourist attractions including Holsworthy Museum, dating back to the 18th-century and showcasing exhibitions on the local history of the town, World War II and plenty more; don't forget to check out Holsworthy Market and browse the local wares! Those outdoor enthusiasts will be drawn to the wonderful Dunsdon National Nature Reserve for plenty of open trails for walking and cycling, with a scenic landscape to ramble. If you're after a day out with a difference, St Austell is also within easy reach, with access to lovely beaches as well as the famed Eden Project. With all this, plus the charming coastline within easy reach, a getaway to The Vale promises to be a memorable one!
