A cosy house offering accommodation for up to six guests, Orton

Lake District. Sleeps up to 6

Located in the quiet corner of Orton, a small village on the Cumbrian edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Linden Barn was renovated in 2020 and is now a cosy house offering accommodation for up to six guests. At the heart of the house is the kitchen and living area with underfloor heating and a wood burning stove providing a warm welcome to walkers and cyclists on even the wettest of days. Indeed, there is also a large utility room to store boots and coats upon returning from walks. Linden Barn has two double rooms each with a king-size bed and one twin-bedded room. The ground floor double bedroom has an en-suite shower room and the two further bedrooms are on the first floor, where there is also a family bathroom and sitting area with stunning far-reaching views.

If the weather is fine, the sliding doors open onto an outdoor seating area with views over the owners' paddock to the Howgill Fells. Buzzards are often seen overhead, you may hear the Curlews during their breeding season and Tawny Owls at night. Guests might even be lucky enough to see Red Squirrels.

Orton was described by Wainwright as one of Westmorland’s loveliest villages and surrounded by rolling countryside views, it's easy to see why. There is a small General Store, Post Office and a warm and welcoming pub.

Kennedy’s Fine Chocolate Factory and Orton Scar Café are essential stops for walkers and non- walkers alike. The surrounding area has rugged limestone scenery, meadows and a network of footpaths and bridleways ideal for walkers of all levels, cyclists, birdwatchers and wildflower enthusiasts or those just looking for a quiet spot to get away. Further afield, the fells of the Eastern Lake District can be easily accessed via Penrith or Shap. The Yorkshire Dales are a short drive in the opposite direction.

Outside, the enclosed garden enjoys views of rolling green hills and working farmland.
