Portland Bill, a rugged and unique part of the island can be reached within a short car ride and is home to the majestic red and white striped lighthouse which stands at 41 meters tall and plays an important part of ensuring the safety of passing vessels. Walkers and cyclists can delight in the Portland loop of the South West Coast Path which circles around the island mapping out a trail of dramatic cliffs, rare plants and secluded coves, and there is a wide range of activities to participate in such as rock climbing, abseiling, dingy sailing and kite-surfing. A leisurely 30 minutes' walk away along the 'Rodwell Trail', an old converted railway line will lead you to Weymouth town centre where you will find many shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as the award winning golden sandy beach which is is backed by the attractive Georgian esplanade, full to the brim with things to do to keep the while family entertained. Weymouth also hosts a fantastic selection of attractions, including the historic Nothe Fort, fascinating SEA LIFE, and Sandworld. However you chose to spend your days whilst holidaying on the spectacular Jurassic coast, Tidal Drift is a wonderful base from which to explore all that this beautiful town has to offer.
