House Beyond The Mill, Brecon

Brecon Beacons. Sleeps up to 4

House Beyond The Mill is a very traditional old stone farmhouse standing in its own grounds with a few barns around. A wonderful, secluded and truly private location with views up and down this wild and remote Welsh valley. Perfect for nature-watching, there are often red kites soaring overhead from their nearby nests. It is 5 miles to Sennybridge and Brecon is 10 miles.

Plenty of walks straight from the door but this is not a place to stay if you want to pop out every morning for a newspaper and pint of milk or for a pizza delivery.

The owner of this pretty hideaway cottage is happy for visitors to bring several dogs away on holiday with them and there is the paddock behind the house to exercise them before you go out for a walk. There are plenty of walks from the door and the owner has several fields - two of which go steeply down to the river that visitors are welcome to explore. Please be aware at times there are sheep in the fields.

Ideal base for exploring the Brecon Beacons

This is truly a cottage to get away from it all. No traffic except the odd car on the school run or a tractor or a flock of sheep.. There is the Epynt walk, ride or cycle trail, a 40 miles circular trail, accessed just up the valley so pack up your bags and forget your troubles at House Beyond the Mill.

The closest pub is The Shoemakers Arms, 4 miles away. Sennybridge is 5 miles away and Brecon 10 miles.

'If total rural is your forte, this is the place.'

If you dislike hectic, dirty, noisy and crowded London, this is the place to retreat. Peaceful, quiet and nobody around. One day we walked 3 hours, did not meet one car or single person, but 5 beautiful lambs escaped from their farmer. The road to the house is not on satnav, so make sure you have the agent's direction at all time. Roads in this area are very narrow, I thought I had made a mistake at the arrival as I had never driven on a narrow line like this before, but after the second/third day, I was totally in love with those roads...private, peaceful. Locals are wonderful, they always reverse when they saw me coming as I am not going to reverse, not because I don't want to, I simply can't, not a very experienced driver. But thank God this situation was not often. Not many people live in the area! The house does need update, bathroom especially. We did no cooking except warm pizzas at the last day. Landlady is very warm and welcoming which makes the whole experience unforgettable.Read less
