Alnwood is a beautifully presented, secluded detached house set in ten acres of mixed woodland. Located in the Scottish Borders, midway between Edinburgh and Newcastle airports, the accommodation has a spacious, relaxed feel with multiple access to the great outdoors. The downstairs areas are large and welcoming – perfect for socialising!
This unique Scottish Country House is ideal for family and friend celebrations, with ample space for parking, relaxation and privacy.


An elevated, south facing decked area greets you on arrival. The seating area is ideal for summer drinks and has spectacular undisturbed views over the glorious hills

The ground floor comprises of a generous hallway with access to the sitting room, kitchen/diner, utility room, wet room and bedroom 5.

The sitting room is a most comfortable and welcoming family space. Windows on three sides and sliding patio doors flood the room with natural light. There is a log stove (logs, kindling and firelighters provided) gives a homely atmosphere.

The kitchen layout is ideal for social gatherings with distinct areas to cook, eat and chat. Marble work surfaces throughout and a central island give a rustic farmhouse feel.

Bedroom 5, containing two single beds, is situated next to a bespoke wet room, clad in Italian stone tiles with under floor heating, a shower and toilet. This room is suitable for those with limited mobility as there is a ramp from the utility room leading outdoors (please not that this room in not fitted with grab rails.)

An oak staircase leads you to the first floor landing where you can access bedrooms 1-4 and a family bathroom. All bedrooms have stunning views of the local farm and woodland.

This house is ideal for those who love the countryside. There is a rich diversity of wildlife including; badgers, roe deer, rabbits, hare, squirrels etc. There is also an abundance of nesting birds, too many to list! The wildlife pond supports frogs, newts, toads, dragonflies etc. – care should be taken to minimise disruption to the wildlife.
If it’s stars you like? Due to limited light pollution, the skies are truly spectacular on clear evenings.

Guests have full access to the house, garden and woodland.
The pond area is fenced off for safety but accessible via gate.
Facilities for infants include travel cot and high chair (please provide your own bedding for the cot.)

No smoking
Max of two small, well behaved dogs allowed (with prior agreement), charge £20 per dog.
No stag or hen parties
Wi-Fi can be slow; this is down to the area we are in. Hopefully this will improve in the future.
Bath sheets and hand towels are provided for guests along with hand soap.
Hair dryers are supplied.
There is plenty of parking situated to the front of the house.

Located in Hawick, this vacation home is in a rural area. Heart of Hawick and Hawick Museum & Scott Art Gallery are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Mary Queen of Scots House and Jedburgh Castle & Jail Museum.
