This delightful cottage offers the ideal location for those wishing to explore the Uists and Eriskay. The Uists are home to two nature reserves, and the archipelago off the islands is linked by causeways, so travelling between them all is very easy. There are many historic and archaeological sites to explore, including the Bonnie Prince Charlie Trail, Trinity Temple at Carnish and the Kildonan Museum.
Visit Cladh Hallan, an ancient settlement dating back to the early bronze ages, or Teampull Mor, where you can wander among the ruins of a 13th-century chapel, once an important place of island worship. From Eriskay, catch the ferry to Barra for a special day out, with empty beaches and rugged landscape, or head for Lochmaddy in North Uist for a short boat trip out to St Kilda and the Monarch Isles. Wildlife is abundant with hen harriers, seals, otters, eagles and corncrakes often spotted, whilst whales and basking sharks visit during the summer months. Outdoor activities include cycling, kayaking, fishing, golf and a variety of leisurely walks. April to the end of September are the prettiest months on the islands when the rare machair flowers are an amazing mass of colour, but the dramatic late autumn and winter months with dark skies and moody shadows are absolutely awe inspiring. The Uists will not disappoint and will leave you relaxed with the urge to return to recharge your batteries. Beach 2¾ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 3½ miles
