The historic market town of Guisborough is just 5 minutes’ walk away, with an abundance of traditional pubs offering a warm welcome and home-cooked food, as well as a number of coffee shops, tea rooms and great restaurants. Guisborough, once under Roman occupation, is steeped in history, with many old buildings and places of interest within walking distance, such as Guisborough Hall and the Guisborough Priory. Natural beauty surrounds the town in most directions. The Cleveland Hills offer some fantastic walking and cycling routes, including a trip up to the peak of Roseberry Topping with stunning views across North Yorkshire. The Moors National Park Centre at Danby is worth a visit early in your stay as it highlights just what there is to see and do in North Yorkshire. It also offers plenty of informative fun for all the family. Known as Britain’s ’Capital of Cake’, the Moors National Park is home to numerous tea shops in tranquil villages, working farms and walled gardens, as well as delicatessens, cafés and bakeries, which all add to the title. The Yorkshire Cycle Hub at Fryup is one particular cake hot spot where you can hire bikes and head out to explore the local beauty.

Saltburn in particular is popular amongst surfers and ice cream lovers, and has many pubs and restaurants to enjoy. Head further south to the magical town of Whitby with its ancient abbey and links to Dracula, Captain Cook and the 199 steps to the top of East Cliff with unbelievable views down onto the town and out to sea. Why not take a tourist boat out in search of minke whales and dolphins, or just enjoy a stroll along miles of golden sands. York and Durham are both worth a visit as is Scarborough further along the coast. There is so much to see and do in the area and Rose Garden Cottage is the ideal base to relax and unwind. Beach 7 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
