Oyster Bay, Port Isaac

Cornwall. Sleeps up to 12

Oyster Bay is a beautifully-decorated semi-detached property, superbly located for enjoying the stunning and rugged north coast of Cornwall. The property is situated at the end of a quiet lane in the iconic village of Port Isaac, the famous home of ‘Doc Martin’ As you enter the property you are welcomed into the spacious open-plan living and dining room, with full-width picture windows giving spectacular views over the sea to Tintagel Head, and a dining table seating up to 12. Immediately you are drawn to the spectacular far-reaching sea views, something you will never tire of. Comfortable chairs are arranged to make the most of those views and encourage lots of card-playing and newspaper-reading! While the host owners wish you wonderful weather so that your holiday is spent on one of the many stunning beaches within a short drive, they have also striven to make Oyster Bay a wonderful holiday house where you can relax and unwind in comfort whatever the weather. This room beams character as a wood-burning stove warms the space, perfect for winter evenings or after a brisk walk along the coast. Adjacent is the well-equipped kitchen (with electric Aga) while a utility room provides all the necessities required for your stay, including additional towel rails for drying out wet weather and surfing/swimming gear. Finishing the ground floor is a further TV sitting room, boasting a wood-burner for anyone wishing to relax in peace, but also a desk space for those needing to check-in - the WiFi is very good. Located on the first floor are the five elegantly decorated bedrooms and a family bathroom. Here, you will find a spectacular master bedroom with a super king-size bed with a free-standing bath situated next to the picture window, perfect for enjoying a relaxing soak looking out to sea or up at the stars, in addition to an en-suite shower room. The balcony off the master bedroom is the perfect spot to make a plan for the day, enjoying the view over a cup of coffee. The principal guest bedroom has a king-size bed and is also en-suite, whilst the family bathroom is shared between another king-size double (which can be arranged as two single beds if preferred), a twin bedroom and the adult-size bunk bedroom, which also has sea views. For couples wanting complete privacy there is a cleverly designed cabin in the rear garden, complete with a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom. Outside, guests will have a front and rear garden area, each finished with comfortable furniture, allowing you to enjoy the sun whatever the time of day. With the village centre a gentle stroll away, you have a large selection of pubs and shops at your fingertips (the local Co-op does the best croissants and Nicky B’s pasties are second to none; the Golden Lion in Port Isaac is the destination for after winter walks, great ale, big plates of hearty food, while Port Gaverne Hotel and Pilchards Café in Port Gaverne is perfect for sundowners). For special occasions (book months ahead to avoid disappointment) there is the Michelin-starred Outlaw’s. Only slightly easier to get in to is his original small-plates restaurant down near the Plaistow in Port Isaac. Within 10 minutes you will also locate sandy beaches from family friendly Daymer Bay to surf-spectacular Trebarwith Strand, and, of course, there are exhilarating coastal paths - everything you need for a memorable holiday in Cornwall! Other activities within Port Isaac include, taking a photo outside Doc Martin’s home, which is a short walk up Roscarrock Hill, or journey on a wildlife-spotting or mackerel-fishing boat trip from the harbour during the summer season.. Port Gaverne is home to sea-kayaking and coasteering days out courtesy Ben at Cornish Rock Tors. Oyster Cottage is a truly special house in a great location to be enjoyed all-year-round.
