These single-storey, terraced, converted stable blocks date back to 1918 and have been lovingly named after ‘Mary’, the last shire horse that worked Moss Hagg Farm, and ‘Sycamore’, the tree that supported the roof for many years. Set within the friendly owner’s grounds where they also operate a family run campsite, you are surrounded by wonderful countryside. With ducks and chickens roaming free, the location is perfect for lovers of the great outdoors, with the convenience of village amenities including a pub serving food just 5 minutes down the road. On the outskirts of Selby, and just half an hour from York, there is easy access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, 1 hour away, the Yorkshire Coast and the Peak District National Park, both 1 hour 15 minutes, as well as local attractions including the National Trust’s Nostell Priory and Harewood House, and Castle Howard all easily reached within an hour, to name but a few.
The historic town of Selby is just 5 minutes away and is dominated by its superb abbey, magnificent both inside and out. It is home to many fine restaurants, amenities and attractions, including Selby Town Hall which is regarded as one of the best live venues in the area. Walkers and cyclists can take advantage of the Trans Pennine Trail, which has a direct path straight into the heart of York, and local Scalm Park offers an established 18-hole golf course, and unlimited dawn until dusk fishing. With barbecues and fire pits available on request, Mary’s (UKC2983) and Sycamore Cottage (UKC3365) make an all year round excellent base in the picturesque Yorkshire countryside.
