This wonderful, terraced, character cottage is one of the oldest houses in the attractive town of Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire. It has been styled with complete relaxation in mind, and is situated in a peaceful, quaint spot but just a stone’s throw from the town, described by the Sunday Times as one of the coolest places to stay in Britain! Quay Cottage has been renovated by the owners to preserve the period charm but offer all the comfort you could want from a holiday home. With exposed stone, original beams, latch doors, wooden floors and a cosy wood burner, you can’t fail to feel the authenticity. The large, white-themed, country-style kitchen/dining room are equipped with everything you will need, including a range cooker and a Smeg fridge/freezer, and leads directly to the enclosed and private decked terrace with lovely views to the side. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, one with an en-suite shower and toilet, and a magnificent, Victorian-style family bathroom with a roll-top bath and separate shower cubicle. There is also the addition of a ground floor toilet too.

Situated on a hill above the River Tywi, Llandeilo is known for its classy boutique shops, great choice of eateries and regular festivals of music and creativity. The wealth of historic monuments, like medieval Dinefwr (National Trust) and Carreg Cennen Castle, make Llandeilo a tourist centre from which to explore the many riches of west Wales. From here, the Brecon Beacons National Park is a short drive, as are the equally wonderful landscapes of Carmarthenshire and the Black Mountains. If you explore a little further, you will discover the sandy beaches of the Gower Peninsular, or the seaside resorts of Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.

If you want to park the car and leave it at the property, you can walk to Newton House and Dinefwr Park, or there are lovely walks which you can do straight from the doorstep of Quay Cottage. After a day of exploring, come back to your cosy retreat for a soak in the deep bath, a glass of wine by the crackling wood burner and a restful sleep in crisp white bedding and fluffy duvets. Bring back some delicious fresh food from the local butchers or one of the delis on the high street, and sit around the big farmhouse table. Though with all the delicious food on offer in the local bars and delis in town, you might find you don’t need to cook much at all! Beach 25 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
