Sitting on the Devon side of the border in the parish of Gulworthy, Tamar Barn is located just above the river at the scheduled ancient monument, Tamar Bridge (built 1520) crossing into Cornwall at Gunnislake. The Tamar Valley is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and there are many delightful areas to see and explore. Tamar Barn is a detached, converted stone building, which lies adjacent to the owners’ home and has a patio area and enclosed garden for children and dogs to enjoy. Gunnislake has a good range of local shops and pubs, as well as the benefit of a railway station linking you to Plymouth and bus service to Tavistock and Liskeard. Nearby, the Tamar Trails Centre offers a wide range of outdoor activities including walking, mountain biking, archery and high wire tree surfing. Other highlights in the area include the historic mining port of Morwellham Quay and a boat trip down the River Tamar from the pretty village of Calstock. Tavistock has an active local market, and there is access up onto Dartmoor National Park from there. At Plymouth you can stroll across The Hoe or visit the National Aquarium. The coast at both Devon and Cornwall are accessible (beaches 16 miles) and the international golf resort of St Mellion is 15 minutes away. The renowned Horn of Plenty is only ten minutes walk away and offers quality dining. Beach 16 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants 500 yards.
