The pretty town of Rothbury has a good selection of pubs, restaurants, shops, golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool, gym and pretty riverside walks. Cragside National Trust House is in walking distance, and fans of local author LJ Ross will be delighted as this is where his 2017 novel is set.
The historic ducal town of Alnwick is only 12 miles away, where a visit to Alnwick Castle, most known for being Hogwarts in Harry Potter films, should not be missed. Within in driving distance is the stunning heritage coast, peppered with castles and golden beaches. Head inland to the rugged and beautiful Northumberland National Park, boasting the largest dark sky park in Europe.
Fishing is available along the river on the doorstep, and a license can be obtained locally. This is a great base for exploring the many delights of this friendly, un-spoilt part of Northumberland. Shop, pub and restaurant 800 yards.
