No smoking. . Nestled away in a converted school house, in the charming village of West Witton, 3, School House is the perfect destination for guests wanting to enjoy the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Being all on one level, guests will find the ground floor wing of the old village school easy to navigate; it has two double bedrooms. The living room has two front windows looking up to Pen Hill. The area is perfect for walkers, ramblers, nature lovers and cyclists, and there are numerous walks that lead directly from the village and out through some of the most magnificent countryside that the county has to offer, passing through many of the traditional Dales villages such as West Burton and Aysgarth. West Witton itself is home to The Wensleydale Heifer. This multi award-winning gastro pub is perfect for a meal to celebrate that special occasion, be it a birthday or anniversary. There is also a friendly local pub and a shop selling freshly baked pies and cakes in the village.

A little further afield yet still only a short drive are the magnificent Aysgarth Falls, Castle Bolton, Constable Burton Hall and Gardens and Hawes. Only 5 miles away is the historic village of Middleham. Middleham Castle has the largest keep in the north of England and was once home to Richard III. The popular market town of Leyburn is also only 4 miles away and has a weekly market where local produce and arts and crafts are sold. With an abundance of tea shops, cafés, restaurants, shops and even a chocolate factory, Leyburn has everything. Hawes, with its weekly market, is also nearby.

The area is perfect for families too, with the Wensleydale Railway stopping at nearby Redmire as well as Leyburn, taking in some of the most fabulous scenery along the way. Also ideal for guests with a sense of adventure, the Forbidden Corner attraction is just a few miles away and offers a fabulous day out with a magical folly that’s full of surprises. York and Harrogate are both within 1¼ hours’ drive, or Richmond and Ripon are half an hour away. Very well presented, light and airy throughout, 3, School House is the perfect holiday base for those looking to explore Wensleydale. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
