The Old Forge, Bashall Eaves Near Clitheroe

Lancashire. Sleeps up to 7

This magnificent, detached stone farmhouse is situated on the outskirts of Bashall Eaves, close to the town of Clitheroe in the Forest of Bowland AONB. With glorious views of open fields glimpsed from every window, and big bright rooms offering comfortable accommodation, it is the perfect holiday home for friends, families and couples exploring the Ribble Valley. The property is surrounded by large, lawned gardens where you can dine in the sunshine when the weather is warm. Inside, the rooms are filled with elegant antique furniture and shelves upon shelves of books, whilst the hallways are hung with wonderful portraits of the ownerÂ’s ancestors. There are three beautifully-decorated bedrooms, the master of which has a splendid super king-size bed, a sitting area complete with winged armchair and chaise-lounge, and a wonderful en-suite shower and roll-top bath. The second room has flexible zip/link beds with a large bright en-suite shower room. There is a single four-poster in the third bedroom and downstairs, in the study, is a double sofa bed. As well as the two en-suites, there is also a second bathroom on the first floor and a wet room downstairs. The kitchen is amazing, with plenty of work surfaces, a double oven and a large fridge/freezer so you can stock up and enjoy cooking with delicious local produce, purchased from the local farm shop. There is a woodburning stove in one corner and two dining tables; one in the centre of the kitchen and the other framed by windows on every side, providing lovely country views. The sitting room has comfy seating set around an open fire and bookcases filled with interesting reads. It also provides access to a study where you will find a sofa bed and a writing table - the perfect spot to pen your postcards home. There is an excellent gastro pub a short walk up the road, where you can enjoy dinner or just visit for a drink without worrying about designating a driver home. The location is perfect for walkers, so pull on your walking boots and climb Pendle Hill and Longridge Fell. For the real adventurers, you can even trek to the centre of Great Britain at the famous Whitendale Hanging Stones. For less strenuous days out you can always visit Browsholme Hall, Whalley Abbey, or explore the farm and gift shops at Bashall Barn. An excellent holiday base for exploring the Ribble Valley!
