The Civic Theatre in the centre of Darlington has an active programme, as has the Forum Music Centre. The renowned, challenging golf course at Rockliffe Hall is on the doorstep and Croft Racing Circuit is 2.4 miles away. A short drive brings you to the pretty market towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle, with their cobbled streets, independent shops and quaint tea rooms. There is splendid countryside around here as you drive into the classic Dales landscape of dry stone walls, rivers and deep valleys. This is perfect walking country for those wanting to explore the upper valleys of Middleton-in-Teesdale, incorporating the well-known Cauldron Snout and the High and Low Force waterfalls. The affluent market town of Yarm lies eight miles away and offers an excellent variety of top restaurants, bars and retail therapy! Head north from the property and visit the magnificent Durham Cathedral, perched high above the meandering River Wear, or take the motorway south and within forty minutes, you are at the city of York for a wonderful day out.
