Outside, there is a lovely shared lawned garden with superb views, almost as good as Ruskin's View. The impressive Norman church, St Mary’s, is well worth seeing, and beyond the churchyard is the famous setting for the John Turner’s painting, Ruskin’s View. Lovers of the outdoors will be spoilt for choice, with a great park close by, sitting on the banks of the River Lune, whilst the beautiful Devil’s Bridge is an enjoyable walk away. Further afield, why not take a day trip into the Yorkshire Dales and explore the White Scar Caves at Ingleton and then pop over to Hawes for afternoon tea? The apartment also makes an excellent base for those wishing to explore the magnificent Lake District National Park, with the ever-popular towns of Ambleside and Bowness-on-Windermere, both situated on the shores of Lake Windermere, accessed within a 40 minute drive.
