The Conifers, Ovington Near Barnard Castle

North Yorkshire. Sleeps up to 2

The Conifers, an early nineteenth century stone-built cottage of character, is located in the peaceful, small picturesque rural 'Maypole' village of Ovington, near both the ever popular market towns of Barnard Castle in Teesdale and Richmond in North Yorkshire. Full of character and charm, this cottage dates back to the 1800s and is perfect for that well-earned, romantic break. Set over one floor, you will find at the front of the cottage a cosy sitting room and a double bedroom overlooking a pretty lawned south-facing walled front garden. To the rear, the spacious kitchen/diner is a real highlight, with French doors that open out onto an enclosed walled courtyard garden; a delightful space to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the sunshine. Also completing this lovely cottage is a stylish bathroom. Ovington has a picturesque green and a short walk from The Conifers is the fantastic traditional pub, The Four Alls, which serves home cooked food and cask ales. Barnard Castle with its cobbled streets and the Bowes Museum is a 15 minute drive away, with Richmond a 20 minute drive, where at both you will find a bustling high streets full of pubs and restaurants, along with charming, independent shops. The Pennine and Teesdale Ways, the medieval Raby Castle with deer park and magnificent waterfalls at High Force are all nearby. Further afield brings you into the heart of Durham, with its majestic cathedral standing high above the River Wear, and with the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the top of the Yorkshire Dales National Park within reach means that there’s plenty to see and do. A delightful cottage from which to explore Teesdale and beyond.
