Self catering cottage on organic smallholding in Highland Perthshire, Kirkmichael

Perthshire. Sleeps up to 4

Camnacar cottage is a converted stable on an organic smallholding. Chickens and ducks share the enclosed garden with a stream running through it. Conveniently located in the centre of the village, an award winning village shop with cafe are just across the street. There are also 2 pubs within walking distance serving food.
The cottage is both spacious, warm and comfortable with stripped pine floors downstairs and a wood burner in the large sitting room. The upstairs rooms have views to the hills beyond the village. Down filled duvets and firm mattresses ensure you will sleep well in this peaceful spot.
The kitchen is well appointed with dish washer, microwave and washing machine as well as wifi if you need to keep in touch. There is plenty of information about the local area and also books, DVDs and games for evenings at home.
The bathroom has a shower over the bath, there is another toilet downstairs.

The situation: Camnacar Cottage is set in a beautiful enclosed garden with plenty of space to explore (about 2 acres) A stream runs through the garden from which we will generate hydroelectricity. There are also a couple of duck ponds and you can enjoy walking around the garden and then on up the hill. We grow vegetables so home produce is available at certain times of the year. Babysitting can also be arranged.
The cottage is spacious for 4 or 5 with a baby. A large sitting room with a wood burning stove as well as a table for dining or there is one in the kitchen if you prefer. We provide fruit, bread, milk and other basics for when you arrive but Kirkmichael Village Shop (community run) is very close, and has pretty much everything you need. The cottage is warm and all the rooms have adjustable central heating and the beds are all comfortable. The kitchen has all the usual equipment such as washing machine, dish washer, microwave, fridge freezer and wifi. Tv and DVD player with large collection of DVDs for you to browse.

The surrounding area: The village of Kirkmichael has a general store and cafe as well as the Strathardle Inn, The Kirkmichael Hotel and the Log Cabin Hotel, which all provide food and comfortable fire side chat. Over the bridge there are a good variety of walks in all directions and many more up and down the Ardle valley, maps etc in the cottage. There are also good tracks for cyclists (as long as you don't mind a few hills...) Nearby mountains include gorgeous views from Beinn Vrackie, Beinn a'Ghlo the nearest munro and famous and ancient Schiehallion. Wildlife abounds, we regularly see deer on the hills round about and red squirrels often play in the garden. Our own animals include chickens and usually ducks, children are welcome to help at feeding time.

Things to do: Activities such as walking, golfing, rock climbing, mountain biking and mountaineering are all popular. For those fond of whiskey, the charming family run Edradour distillery is the oldest in Scotland, also Dalwhinney and Dewars distilleries are close by. Relax at a number of health farms in the area such as the Lavendar Spa in Pitlochry . Horse riding can be arranged at Glenmarkie, a beautiful area to explore. Try a visit to the Wee House at Glenshee for local crafts, the visitor centre or homemade cakes on a wet day. Shop at the popular House of Bruar with the impressive Falls of Bruar behind. Snow sports such as skiing and snowboarding is easily accessed from the Cairnwell ski centre. Golf courses are also plentiful.

Located in Blairgowrie, this cottage is in the mountains. Bells Blair Athol Distillery and Ossian's Hall are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Pitlochry Golf Club and Rob Roy Way - North. Enjoy the area's slopes with skiing, and don't miss out on the sledding.
