For hillwalkers, try the hike up Helvellyn, one of the highest mountains in the Lake District, or explore the area around Aira Force where a variety of paths lead through mixed woodland to various viewpoints. Historians will love the maze of period rooms at Dalemain, an impressive stately home 7 miles away, whilst Hutton in the Forest, 10 miles away, has beautiful gardens to discover. Penrith, 10 miles, is your nearest town where there is a choice of supermarkets handy for stocking up on essentials and also a good range of independent shops in the town centre. The open plan living space is the centre of the house, with the wood burner the focal point of the cottage. Dine at the table, before settling in the armchairs, glass of wine in hand and put at your feet in front of the crackling flames. Watch a movie or make use of the selection of board games and books. Outside, the delightful garden area is shared with the apartment on the first floor, and is the perfect place for a breath of fresh air each morning.
