Oystermouth Chapel, Newton, Swansea

Carmarthenshire. Sleeps up to 6

Resting in Newton close to the coast of Swansea is this unique converted chapel, Oystermouth Chapel. Brimming with character and quirky features, the property welcomes a group of six and two well-behaved dogs to explore South Wales from a beautiful base. Admire the charming chapel in a peaceful setting as you park up in the off-road parking for two cars and make yourself at home. Step inside the porch with space for coats and shoes, along with the original stone archway, ornate ceiling and pretty tiled flooring. Open the arched, double wooden door to be welcomed by the rustic living/dining room with tall ceilings and wooden beams; a lovely spot to settle down in for the evening, whether that's for a home-cooked dinner around the dining table for six, or sinking into the sofas to watch a movie. A beautiful grand piano welcomes the group's musician to practise their favourite songs! Follow the little archway into the kitchen with Velux windows bringing in plenty of light, where the group's chef can make use of the oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer to rustle up tasty treats. Mornings can be spent in the rear enclosed courtyard where the dogs can stretch their legs whilst you savour a hot cup of coffee on the outdoor seating. Follow the steps up to a sheltered, elevated patio area with more seating space to enjoy some peace and quiet. Oystermouth Chapel hosts three bedrooms for guests to catch their rest, including a ground-floor double with a TV, a snug twin room with wooden beams and Velux windows, and the master bedroom features a double, quaint chapel windows and an en-suite bathroom for added privacy. In the morning, choose from the handy ground-floor shower room or the upstairs bathroom to get ready for the day ahead. Newton is an excellent spot for exploring South Wales; dine at The Newton Inn or stock up at the local newsagents, or why not pack your towels and take a short journey south to the beach? Langland Bay is a sandy refuge with beach huts, dining options and the perfect conditions for surfing, whilst Caswell Bay Beach is a little further west with a popular seaside café and a year-round surf school; be sure to venture along the coastal path to make the most of the sea views from Snapple Point Viewpoint. Head east to The Mumbles, the headland of Swansea Bay for plenty of shops and eateries that are easily reached by a short walk and offer delicious, local cuisine, whilst the historic Oystermouth Castle and Mumbles Beach are two popular attractions. The Mumbles is also home to Mumbles Pier, which can be reached via a walk along the coast and offers views of Pier Head and Mumbles Lighthouse, whilst also being close to the stunning Mumbles Hill Local Nature Reserve. Explore more of Swansea Bay with plenty of sandy and rocky bays to discover in Gower AONB, such as Rhossili bay Beach and Broughton Bay, Blue Pool, alongside idyllic countryside spots and the ruins of Weobley Castle. Venture north to the vibrant city of Swansea to soak up local culture and heritage; be inspired by Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, explore the ruins of the 13th-century Swansea Castle and find interactive displays at The National Waterfront Museum. Llanelli is a charming market town a little further north west, home to the dog-friendly Sandy Water Park, plenty of traditional pubs to dine in and the protected lagoon of Llanelli Wetland Centre for wildlife lovers to explore. Oystermouth Chapel is a unique base to call home for your holiday in South Wales.
