As the birthplace of JM Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, the nearby town of Kirriemuir is rich in history, boasting a museum set in the novelists former home and a Camera Obscura gifted to the people of Kirriemuir by J M Barrie from which you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Kirriemuir is known as the 'Gateway to the Glens' and makes an excellent base for exploring Angus. RSPB reserve Loch of Kinnordy is home to many wetland birds, viewable from hides and boardwalks. 5 miles from Kirriemuir is Glamis Castle, childhood home of the late Queen Mother, the castle is open to the public.
