Cottage in The Highlands, Achnasheen

Ross-Shire. Sleeps up to 6

Secluded on a hillside, surrounded by mature woodland, this characterful stone faced property sits amongst the dramatic Scottish scenery. Previously a church, the building has found new life as a delightful holiday home, complete with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The local area is packed with a huge range of walking paths and famous for its spectacular nearby mountains, so exploring by foot is popular, as well as climbing, hiking and kayaking. After a day out taking in the views, you're only an 8 mile drive from amenities in Torridon, and dinner at a local inn. If you'd prefer to cook for yourself, head back to the spacious kitchen at the house where eight people can sit comfortably around the table making this a great social space. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with a traditional wrought iron bedstead and en suite bathroom, a shower room and a utility/boot room for outdoor clothes and shoes. There is a washing machine and a tumble dryer in here should you need them during your stay. Simple, elegant furnishings, tasteful style and homely touches can be expected from the interior, particularly evident in the beautiful upstairs lounge. Sink into one of the comfy armchairs with a favourite book or a film, TV with integrated DVD. On the first floor next to the lounge are two spacious twin bedrooms and a bathroom. French doors lead from the kitchen out onto a gravelled area where you can gaze at snow capped mountains in the winter or lush greenery in summer months. Please note that the house is accessed via steep steps near the house and that parking is available down these steps and across a bridge.
