Dent railway station is the highest train station in England, at 1,100 feet above sea level. It is part of the famous Carlisle to Settle railway line which crosses the Ribblehead Viaduct and is one of the most scenic routes in Britain.

The Pennine Cycleway, also known as Sustrans Route 68, passes through Dent on its 350-mile route between Derby and Berwick-upon-Tweed, and there are also some excellent local cycle routes around the countryside and the village. The beautiful River Dee is nearby with lovely riverside walks and fishing. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
