Converted from an old milking parlour, Skiddaw Cottage is a beautiful detached cottage with tonnes of character. Its quirky design means you benefit from plenty of natural light and views to the cobbled courtyard at the front. The cottage is all on the ground floor making it perfect for families with younger children and also for guests who are less mobile. After parking up directly outside the door you enter into the living room with high quality furnishings, stone flooring and exposed stonework, all adding to the interior design and appeal of this cosy property. The compact kitchen is well-equipped and provides everything you need to prepare a hearty feast after a day of adventure. The two bedrooms, a double room and a twin room, offer comfortable beds for a good night sleep andthey both have an en-suite shower room making it ideal for couples and families. Outside, you will find a picnic bench which is ideal to sit with a bottle of wine in the afternoon and soak up the sun. Well behaved dogs are welcome to come along and there are plenty of dog friendly pubs and restaurants in the area, as well as some beautiful walks available nearby.

Whether you are looking for a relaxing retreat or an action packed holiday, you couldn’t ask for a better starting point. Its quiet village location means that you can escape your busy lifestyle and retreat to the countryside in no time. There is an excellent pub and restaurant serving a range of local cask ales and great food just 200 yards away. There is good access to plenty of walking and cycle routes nearby, as well as more challenging fells including Skiddaw, Catbells, Latrigg and Blencathra to name a few. You can walk to Bassenthwaite lake, and Keswick, Cockermouth and the surrounding Lakeland Fells are just a few miles away. The Lake District Wildlife Park, 1 mile, has over 100 species of wild animals, great fun for all the family. Also nearby is The Lakes Distillery offering tasting tours and producers of fine whisky, gin and vodka - always a hit with the adults. The popular town of Keswick, 7 miles, on the shores or Derwent Water, has an abundance of dining and shopping experiences as well as a mix of cultural hotspots and tourist attractions including The Pencil Museum, home to the world’s largest pencil, The Theatre by the Lake offering award-winning arts and drama on the shores of Derwent Water and the mind-boggling world of The Puzzling Place, which is based on optical illusions and fun for all ages. Alternatively perhaps enjoy a trip to Cockermouth, 8 miles, the birthplace of William Wordsworth. Shop ¾ mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
