Dating back to the 1600s, Merrill Cottage was once the home of Mr Humphrey Merrill, the local herbalist in Eyam at the time of the bubonic plague. It’s now a superb pet friendly Grade II listed holiday cottage in one of the most historic and best-preserved villages in the Peak District National Park. Beautifully quaint, cosy and full of character, downstairs you’ll find a kitchen and dining area complete with wood burner, and upstairs, an open plan bedroom and living space just perfect for two.

The village of Eyam is simply fascinating to walk around, and to immerse yourself in its incredible story. You’ll find a dog friendly pub serving food and a couple of café’s/tea rooms together with the National Trust’s 17th-century manor house Eyam Hall and also Eyam Museum.

The surrounding area is home to glorious countryside including Eyam Moor, which lies just above the village, and is a fine area for walking with fantastic views. The ever popular market town of Bakewell can be reached in around 15 minutes as can Chatsworth House. The beautiful honeypot village of Castleton can be reached in around 20 minutes and the spa town of Buxton in around half an hour. Merrill Cottage is a wonderful base perfect for lovers of history, the great outdoors and the Peak District National Park. Shop 350 yards, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
