To the north you’ll find the vibrant town of Penrith, 6½ miles, with supermarkets and plenty of independent shops, pubs and restaurants dotted around the town square. To the west you have the delights of Pooley Bridge and Ullswater, 7 miles, including the famous steamers where you can ride on Lake Ullswater to various points around this famous stretch of water. This part of Cumbria acts as the gateway to the Northern Lakes with fantastic walking, climbing and cycling routes. Hikers and bikers will be in their element.
