This detached, ground floor cottage has an enclosed garden and is on the Carreg Llwyd Place estate, set in Rhayader and the Elan Valley. Situated within the owners’ grounds, this is the perfect place to base yourself for exploring the fabulous countryside and dams and waterfalls that Elan Valley has to offer, and is surrounded by the Cambrian mountains. Originally part of a Victorian workhouse from the 1800s, Duck Egg Cottage has been converted to offer home from home comforts. Perfect for small families and couples with their four-legged friends looking to get away for wildlife spotting and walks along the River Wye.

There is plenty to do in this area, and a visit to the Elan Valley is a must as the scenery is just simply stunning, with forested areas, waterfalls and Victorian dams, great for walkers, cyclists and bikers. The Red Kite feeding and rehabilitation centre is not far from the property, and the sheep dogs put on a great show moving the cattle and sheep from the fields before feeding starts. The Gilfach Nature Reserve is a fabulous place to take a walk with its small rapids and waterfalls.

The market town of Rhayader has plenty of restaurants and coffee shops, local amenities and stores, but for those wanting to travel further afield, then the market town of Builth Wells is 9 miles away and home to the Royal Welsh Showground, which hosts multiple events throughout the year. The spa town of Llandrindod Wells is 12 miles from the property and hosts a great golf course and lots of open country parks. The Brecon Beacons National Park is 35 miles from the property for those more adventurous, where a day climbing Pen Y Fan is a must, with its panoramic views. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
