A mile away, the village of Gilwern has a few convenience stores and access to the wonderful walks along the Brecon - Monmouthshire canal, with canal boat hire companies offering opportunities to explore by water as far as the historic town of Brecon. With two National Trails and a National Park, the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) is the ultimate walking and thinking country.
