There are frequent trains into Edinburgh from Dalmeny Station, a 10-minute walk away, taking 15-20 minutes, making a car-free day in the city an enticing option. The three bridges over the Forth into Fife make it easy to explore the villages of the East Neuk and St Andrews, or to go to Perth, Stirling and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. South Queensferry has an enviable choice of good restaurants, pubs, interesting shops and there are boat trips to Inchcolm Island giving fascinating views of the bridges. Visit the stately homes of Dalmeny and Hopetoun or walk part of the John Muir Way along the coast to Cramond. Beach ¼ mile. Shops, pubs and restaurants ¼ mile.
