Dell Cottage is as attractive as the location it sits in. A traditional terraced cottage with views over the surrounding countryside, it is set in the heart of the Lake District National Park. The unspoilt hamlet of Far Sawrey was once home to Beatrix Potter, and a number of sites in the village were used in her books.
The cosy layout of the cottage is set over three floors, with a newly refurbished shower room for 2018. The kitchen/dining room found on the ground floor has plenty of space to serve a delicious meal or to sit round the dining table and enjoy good conversations. On the first floor, you can choose from the delightful living room with its roaring wood burner, or the light and airy sitting room, with a bright picture window taking in the views.
The two double bedrooms can be found on the top of floor of the cottage and one can be comfortably converted into a twin room. Outside, parking for two cars can be found adjacent to the delightful sitting-out area, with a chiminea to warm those long summer nights.
Moss Eccles Tarn is an enjoyable walk from Far Sawrey. It was here that Beatrix Potter spent many an hour fishing from a rowing boat that can now be seen at the Steamboat Museum at Windermere. It is thought that the water lilies on Moss Eccles inspired the story of Jeremy Fisher.
Bowness Ferry connects the road through Far Sawrey with Bowness-on-Windermere. At nearby Claife Heights is Claife Station, built in the 1790s, a viewpoint where visitors can look at Lake Windermere. For the last stop on any walk, try the local dog-friendly inn, which can be found just across the road from Dell Cottage, stocked with fine traditional ales and locally sourced food, you really don’t have to worry about the walk home either! Beach 23 miles. Shop and restaurant 2¾ miles, pub 50 yards.
