Forge Cottage is a pretty canal side self catering holiday cottage in the centre of The Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales.
The cottage will sleep 5/6 guests in three bedrooms.
There are gorgeous views from the cottage across the Usk Valley and the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal which is just outside the cottage and borders the cottage garden. Forge Cottage garden is a very pleasant and relaxing place to sit watching the canal boats passing at the end of the garden. The River Usk is beyond the water meadows just two fields below the canal; this is reached over a stone bridge and down a green lane. It is less than a mile's stroll along the peaceful canal tow path to either the village of Talybont with three village pubs, the shop, cafe and a restaurant or in the other direction to Pencelli with The Royal Oak village pub.
Accommodation
There is a very large and attractive entrance hall.
Kitchen: the kitchen has an electric cooker, electric hob, a microwave, dishwasher and a full size fridge and a freezer. There is a washing machine, coffee maker, toaster etc.
The back door leads out to the very pretty and well kept garden with garden table and chairs.
A locked cellar contains the central heating/hot water boiler. But visitors will not normally need to access this.
The dining room has a dining table and chairs and a fireplace with woodburning stove.
The sitting room is well-furnished witha a sofa and chairs and a flat screen TV (SKY freeview) with DVD player. A selection of DVD's available.
Shower Room downstairs with a shower, with handbasin and toilet.
Up fairly steep flight of stairs to three bedrooms:
Bedroom1: A bedroom with a double bed
Bedroom 2: A bedroom with twin beds
Bedroom 3: A bedroom with a single bed
An extra folding bed with duvet etc is also provided if required.
The Bathroom: bath with a shower over, hand basin and toilet.
There is a large and very well kept and sunny garden with lawn and fruit trees and a low wall in front of the canal and not enclosed - so perhaps not suitable for small children.

As the name indicates, it was originally connected with an old forge where all the local farmers would bring their working horses to be shod. The house has always been in the same family ownership with pictures on the walls showing how the exterior of the cottage has not changed very much over the years.
This is a good location for anyone wishing to explore the area, it is only a few minutes to the lane up to Talybont Reservoir, The very stunning and beautiful Blaen y Glyn Mountain road that passes the reservoirs and well known Blaen Glyn waterfalls. The cottage is right on The Taff Trail cycle route and there are foot paths leading up to the Peaks of the Brecon Beacons.
Talybont on Usk is 1 mile with three village pubs, a small gallery and a thriving village shop, cafe and Post Office; Pencelli is 1 mile and again has an excellent village pub The Royal Oak. Llanfrynach is 3 miles.
The market town of Brecon is 5 miles. Buses pass this property from Abergavenny to Brecon (infrequently).
Severn Bridge 1 hour, Bristol 1.5 hours, London and Manchester 3.5 hours and Birmingham 2 hours.
