Trepuet, St Davids

Pembrokeshire Coast. Sleeps up to 8

The City of St Davids Although St Davids has the status of a city it is really only the size of a small village. With useful shops - there is a well-stocked supermarket, butchers and greengrocers, as well as a post office, ice cream and chocolate shop and two banks. There are also galleries and shops - clothes, gifts and outdoor gear. Come and browse or buy - it is a delightful place to while away your holiday! On Thursdays throughout the summer on the Cross Square there is an outdoor farmers' market – don’t miss the chance to buy all sorts of local produce and tasty morsels. There are plenty of places to spend your evenings whether you want to eat or just have a quiet drink. Try Cwtch Restaurant, the St Davids Kitchen, the Bishops pub or Saffron Indian Restaurant – there is a good range of both fine dining and pub grub on offer in St Davids Davids Cathedral, Music Festival and the Bishops' Palace Tucked away in the valley below the town is St Davids' wonderful medieval Cathedral - take time to enjoy the history and atmosphere of this very special place. Dating back to 1181, the Cathedral is both church and historic building. Guide books and volunteer stewards will help you understand some of its differing fortunes across the centuries. Try coffee or a meal in the remarkable refectory - a modern insert in the 14th century St Mary's Hall. At the end of May is the Cathedral Music Festival – the culmination of a full programme of music performed in the Cathedral throughout the year. It has an international reputation and draws audiences from far and wide! Over the tiny river Alun is the ruined Bishops' Palace with its lovely decorated stonework, wheel window, halls and stairways. This romantic ruin will fire the imagination of young and old - let your children play while they absorb the atmosphere of this site of medieval power and influence. St Davids Peninsula beaches The St Davids Peninsula has a fantastic range of beaches to suit every taste -Whitesands' wide sandy beach is great for surfing and sandcastles, kite flying, rock pooling and games of cricket; Caerfai has a steep walk down to a lovely south facing sandy beach, sheltered by the surrounding cliffs and good for family fun, rockpooling and sunbathing; Porthlisky beach is only accessible along the coast path - so it is secluded and untroubled by the crowds; Caerbwdi is a stony beach with sand at low tide - the stone here was quarried to provide the purple stone of the cathedral. Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and Wonderful Walks from your doorstep From its position at the centre of the Peninsula there is access on all sides to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. The coastline will take your breath away - the colours of the sea and sky, the bird and wildlife, the fantastic flora - all combine to make an experience which draws visitors back year after year. Family FunDiscover a fabulous assortment of family attractions throughout the county such as Dr Beynon's Bug Farm and Grub Kitchen, Hangar 5 Trampolines, Scolton Manor Museum and Country Park, Pembroke castle, Folly Farm, Carew castle, Heatheron Sports, Manor Wildlife Park, Manorbier castle and so many more. Fabulous farmhouse with traditional features near Britain's tiniest city of St Davids on the north Pembrokeshire coast.
