Part of a Grade II listed mansion house with an illustrious background, Spindrift is a luxurious apartment with amazing sea views within this imposing residence. Built in 1835 by a Napoleonic war hero, it has been a WWII isolation hospital, a catering college and owned by a rock star with recording studios used by many famous music artists, a shrine to Jimi Hendrix once existed. The building, now converted into luxury apartments, nestles in 7 acres of grounds, just south of Aberystwyth, with dramatic vistas of the sea and views of no less than three castles. Spindrift, an evocative name after the fine sea spray blown from cresting waves, is located on the first floor via a staircase. This attractive apartment has been restored, keeping many original 19th-century features including architrave, plasterwork, and sash windows; and is stylishly furnished from the open plan living space to the spacious double bedroom (both with sea views) and en-suite shower room.
The apartment has access to 7 acres of shared woodland so you can make the most of this idyllic location and the outstanding sea views. A comfortable 30-minute beach walk or a 15-minute cycle along a Sustrans route will bring you to the university town of Aberystwyth, where you will discover the pier and promenade, castle, and the National Library of Wales (free guided tours available). Constitution Hill has a Victorian electric cliff railway to the summit as well as an unusual Camera Obscura allowing you to look back over the whole of Aberystwyth through a camera lens. The Aberystwyth Arts Centre is a top quality entertainment centre and considered the best in Wales outside of Cardiff. From Aberystwyth you can take the steam train on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to Devil’s Bridge. There are 60 miles of coastal paths in Ceredigion accessible from here and if you prefer a day out without the car, a ¾-mile walk will bring you to the stop where the buses go north or south to a variety of destinations, such as New Quay, where you may take a dolphin watching boat trip, and Aberaeron, a Georgian harbour town famous for its coloured houses and chic shops, cafés and restaurants. Ceredigion has a wealth of things to see and do whilst on holiday - from unsurpassed beaches, renowned nature reserves, historic houses and gardens, and interesting coastal and inland towns and villages.
Whatever your interest, you won’t be short of ways to fill your days and Spindrift is the perfect elegant apartment to return to every day. Beach 400 yards. Shop and pub 1½ miles, restaurant 2 miles.
