This pretty stone built detached cottage was originally the village bakery and retains much of the original character such as the old pine beams. Just off the main street with a private secluded suntrap at the side of the cottage, this is the ideal location for a couple or small family who want to explore this splendid part of Scotland. Set in the centre of the highland village of Kirkmichael, on the southern edge of the Cairngorms National Park, you are in the Glen of Strathardle with the River Ardle running through the village. Trout fishing is available locally, free of charge and with no need for a licence.

From your doorstep there is an abundance of footpaths, a local pub serving food and a well-stocked local community shop. This is an all year round holiday location with both summer and winter activities; Glenshee, Scotland’s largest ski resort, just 15 miles away, Perthshire’s long distance walking trail, The Cateran Trail, passing through the village. For the more adventurous, there is hill walking on the stunning Cairngorm mountains, mountain biking, fishing, stalking on the local estates, horse riding, and golf at Blairgowrie, one of Scotland’s top golf courses or the beautiful hill course of Pitlochry. There are a variety of local events throughout the year such as The Strathardle Gathering every August (Highland Games), The Etape Caledonia Cycling Event in May, The Perthshire Open Studios and The Blairgowrie Book Festival in October, and various other local events. Blairgowrie and Pitlochry are only 12 miles away and the larger cities of Perth and Dundee are less than an hour’s drive. Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness can all be reached within one and a half to two hours.

Bakehouse Cottage can be booked together with MacDonald Cottage (CC524085) to accommodate up to six guests.
